Additional explanation about the exhibition
Green abstract landscapes and cheerful flower fields are scenarios depicted in the paintings that visual artist Claire Verkleij of Let The Colors Speak made for the exhibition 'The Green Pioneer'. Nature and the sometimes scarce green space in the city have inspired Claire.

How did the exhibition come about?
Claire Verkleij “De Pioniers is a green oasis in the city. There is room for flowers, plants, vegetables and fruit to grow and bloom. A very nice place to relax in nature in the middle of the city.

How did you arrive at the theme 'The green pioneer'?
Claire Verkleij: “I recently moved back to the city center of Utrecht. I started looking for green places in the city. Rian Kraan, told me about his garden at Tuinenpark De Pioniers. He showed me this green oasis of peace and space in the city. The place surprised and inspired me.

De Pioniers and Let The Colors Speak are a good combination
The site is publicly accessible every day for visitors who, like Claire, want to relax in a green oasis of peace and space. There is also a membership building on the site, where the paintings of Let The Colors Speak by Claire Verkleij can be seen from April 10 to June 11.

Claire Verkleij: “In my paintings that I made for this exhibition, I reflect the peace and space that I experience in the garden park and nature in the city. The exhibition is an ode to this atmospheric place. If only the city of Utrecht had more of these types of special green places. Unfortunately they have a registration freeze, otherwise I would have happily registered, I would really like to have a garden here!
